Welcome to The Children's Farm

Hello and welcome!

We are Ronda and Alan, a husband and wife team who own and operate the Children’s Farm, serving preschool and school age children near Grass Valley and Nevada City, California. We are both seasoned early childhood educators with lots of credentials and experience between us. Our ongoing goal is to create the healthiest environment and finest preschool and school age program we can imagine for the holistic development and socialization of children as they mature from infancy through childhood. We serve about a dozen children in our custom-made facility attached to our home that is located on a beautiful country setting just south of Grass Valley.

Our mixed-age social format is based on the assumption that humankind evolved within the context of village-style social groupings, and that children are hard-wired to learn, express themselves and thrive within an all-age social environment.  At Children's Farm the children are happily engaged with the rich variety of age-less activities within the center of a vibrant community.  We feel blessed with an exceptionally enlightened group of parents who are very committed to socializing their children in a community that acknowledges them and encourages them for the unique beings they are.

Our website is an ongoing work in progress and sometimes a bit messy.
